Crossy Clean-Up: A reef-freshed Crossy Road experience!
Notice something different? A new and improved Ocean World is now live, along with some general quality-of-life updates that some of you have been requesting! But before we get into the details - behold, the main event:
Crossy Clean-Up Collectathon
The Crossy Clean-Up Collectathon is the main event of our Green Game Jam 2025 update, and it will be running from June 5th - 15th!
Clean up the sea and collect trash to earn new rewards daily, including two new marine friends for your collection:
Hermit Crab
Firstly, let’s all just agree that the main role of the Hermit Crab is to be super cute - but what’s more, you can also collect various shells and found objects to change the appearance of its “home” as you explore Ocean World!
Players will be able to unlock the Hermit Crab on the very first day of the Collectathon, and it will be available in the Prize Machine even after the event has finished.
Blob Fish
Did you know that the Blob Fish doesn’t actually look like that in its natural habitat? As a deep-sea creature, it literally thrives under pressure; this squelchy appearance that we’re used to is the result of it being pulled by humans out of its home environment deep below, where the pressure is 60 to 120 times greater!
The Blob Fish will be unlockable from the final day of the Collectathon, on June 15th. Like the Hermit Crab, it will also be available in the Prize Machine after the event has finished.
Ocean World reef-fresh
For this event, we’ve also given our Ocean World a major glow up to make it easier and more fun to play, with more to see and enjoy!
Why did we update Ocean World?
Ocean World was first released in 2018 - quite a while ago! We’ve received a lot of player feedback since then, and here are some of the ways we’ve tried to address it with this update.
Ocean World was very dark. Some players were finding it too difficult to see as the background was so dark.
⭐️ Updated: Colours throughout the world have been adjusted to better reflect cool underwater blues. Lighting changes further enhance the effect, including the additions of dappled lighting and light beams.
The art was confusing. It wasn’t always immediately obvious whether something was a harmless decoration, or if it was something that could hurt you.
⭐️ Updated: The various sea life you'll run into have also been given a few new additions and a splash of colour, with bright vibrant corals and creatures to discover.
Inadequate warning for shark swarms. In Ocean World, swift sharks take the place of trains. Small schools of fish running away from the shark warn you they are coming, but not all players found this easy to see or understand.
⭐️ Updated: We have updated this visual cue to give more warning that the sharks are on their way.
Confusing log boundaries. it was pretty difficult to see where the jellyfish “logs” in Ocean World would reach the edge of the screen, meaning a lot of unexpected deaths for players.
⭐️ Updated: Various features, like bubbles and better-defined world edges, have been added to help players navigate this amazing underwater World.
Quality-of-life updates
Outside of the Ocean world reef-fresh, we’ve also added some frequently requested quality-of-life updates!
⭐️ Music and SFX can now be individually toggled OFF in Settings!
⭐️ You can also opt to turn off the screen shake feature!
⭐️ The game’s background audio now dims slightly when you’re visiting other tabs (e.g. Collection, Store tabs)
